Main Character Energy & How to own it…

Hello Gentle Reader,

Ever feel more like a gremlin living under a bridge and less like the main character of your own story?

Yeah. Same.

Don't worry, it happens to all of us. Sometimes life has an ugly way of making us forget that we are the heroines of our own stories. Whether your days are spent in an office, making lattes or changing diapers, we are the main characters of our own stories. It is our job to make each day a page worth reading. So let's start at the beginning.

Waking up.

I encourage you to romanticize your morning as much as humanly possible. A lot of the time, the day to day tends to feel robotic and mundane… but a true main character does more than just wake up. They make it something special. Cinderella sang and opened windows. Belle grabbed her favorite book and strolled into town. So add the sprinkles to your coffee, froth some cream for your tea latte, have your favorite pastry, open the blinds and let the sun shine through. Appreciate the unique kind of quiet that only early morning brings. Kindly remind yourself it is a new day, one you get to live any way you want and then live it… like its your last.

Getting Dressed.

Next, get dressed. And by dressed I mean do it in a way that is uniquely you. Wrap yourself in fabrics that make you feel your best. Pieces that make you feel your prettiest, most main character self. Whether it is floral patterns like a cozy cottage witch, silk pjs like you are being cast in an episode of Gossip Girl, or a pair of worn jeans that still fits even years later, reminding you that time has passed, much has changed, but you don’t have to.

Read About Your Favorite Heroines.

Next, read about your favorite heroines. You know the ones. The Feyre Archerons of the world, who did everything they had to in order to survive. The Violet Sorrengails, who show us that strength thrives in the hearts of those who are underestimated. And the Aelin Galathyniuses, who could save a world and burn one down all at once.

All of these heroines had main character energy. Not just because they were always strong, fierce or fearless, but because they were not. They have been weak, unsure and scared. And they kept going anyway. Kept fighting anyway.

Strength is so often measured in muscles and ability, but sometimes strength is revealed through something much quieter. The ability to keep getting up after being knocked down. These heroines are unforgettable because they never apologize for who they are. They simply are.

Remember Who You Are.

My last tip for reclaiming your main character energy, do not forget who you are.

You are not just a receptionist, just a barista, just a mom. You are the main character of your own beautiful story. You are the receptionist whose smile brightens Dave's entire day. You are the barista who made Sandy's whole morning with just one sip from the cup you poured. You are the mom whose husband brags about to his coworkers during his morning meetings.

While our lives, our stories, may feel small at times, they are still ours. Still important. Still beautiful.

Never forget that.

Love, Jasmine 🖤
