Despite all our dreams of having a rolling ladder with large Beauty-and-the-Beast-type shelves stacked with books, let's face it. We all don't live in the large palace to go with it.

Still, that doesn't mean we have to lose all hope in creating the perfect whimsy-filled reading corners in our homes. We're readers, darn it! And if there's anything we're experts in, it's how to imagine new worlds. Worlds filled with hanging vines, glowing lanterns, and fae fairy lights. The best thing about this is we can create one just for us. A world crafted just for you, to do the thing that you love most.

Some of my favorite corners of my home have a stack of books, a cozy blanket, and a lamp nearby. I love to give my reading corners a touch of enchantment with hanging vines. But maybe you prefer a more dark-academia feel, with moody, deep tones, candlesticks burning, and red roses.

There are no rules when creating your perfect little space.

Think of the places that bring you the most joy. The worlds from your favorite books. Take the space you have and add small, subtle details to bring the world alive. Consider tiny floating shelves, battery-operated lanterns, faux candles, fairy lights, and printed quotes from your favorite books in frames.

Make your space unique to you, and what you love.

After you set the aesthetic that works for you, whether it be enchanted forest, dark romance, or starlight in Velaris, consider adding a signature scent to your cozy corner. Something that relaxes you and brings you joy. I love the warm smell of a cup of coffee, or a candle that smells like baked goods in my space. Maybe you prefer to burn some sage like a cozy little witch, or light some incense that smells like you're around a campfire with your favorite characters.

Your space doesn't need to be huge or lavish. In fact, I find the most humble spaces often make the coziest ones.
